Stephanie Mahealani Piimauna
Executive Director of Diversity and Inclusion for MGM Resorts International
Stephanie has been in the customer service and learning and development industry for the past 20 years. Within the last 16 years she has traveled across the United States and Europe facilitating leadership training and delivering motivational speeches for many organizations including; Major, Lindsey, Africa, Aerotek, Clark County Fire Department, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, Wirtz Beverage, BlueGreen Group, MGM Resorts International, City of Las Vegas, Maui County DMV, US Army, Air National Guard, Los Angeles Police Department, NV Energy, Genesis (United Kingdom), Nacro (United Kingdom).
Stephanie was an essential partner in assisting the Bellagio Resort and Casino in achieving their 4 Star, 5 Diamond statuses through the customer service training she assisted with developing and delivering for the front desk. Her years of management and leadership experience lends to her ability to speak on various topics.
Stephanie is a certified trainer for Franklin Covey and a faculty member of University of Southern California at San Diego’s (UCSD) Business School of Management. She is also a graduate of Rapport Leadership’s Leader 1 Program and Power of Communication Program, a graduate of Mark Samuel’s Mastership for Transformation Leaders Program, attended Dr. Tony Herrera’s Course; Candor, How to have Courageous Conversation, was a keynote Speaker for Ohio National Guard’s Annual Leadership Conference, a keynote Speaker for the Professional Women’s Network Group and spoke about Thriving in the Workplace, a keynote Speaker for the Asian & Pacific Islander Network Group and spoke about Innovation and is certified in the UC San Diego Center for Executive Development The Strategic Leader Course.
Stephanie is married to a wonderful man named Mike and is the grandmother of two beautiful grandbabies; Koa and Mahealani. Stephanie delivers with energy and enthusiasm that brings her sessions to life
Pam Johansen, Co-Founder, The Variegate Group
Pam Johansen is the Co-Founder and Chief Operations Officer of The Variegate Group. In her role, she is responsible for creating the education and learning framework as well as the statistical data model that ties an ROI to Diversity & Inclusion initiatives.
Pam has over 24 years of data warehousing, modeling, analytics and administering enterprise business Intelligence applications. Prior to joining The Variegate Group, she spent 6 years at Zappos, Inc. as a Senior Business Intelligence Analyst. Her technical knowledge enabled her to tackle large scale database and reporting initiatives as well as implement cloud based solutions to capitalize on COTS products.
Before moving to Las Vegas in 2011, she was a Director of Reporting & Analytics at ACN, an international telecom company. In her role she was responsible for on-shore and off-shore resources, 24x7 data center ETL, and developing the first automated framework for fiscal end close cycles.
Pam is an east-coast native whose depth and breadth of experience includes Fortune 500 companies such as Time Warner Cable, Carfax, U.S. Marine Corp., America Online, Verisign, and Network Solutions. She was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pa and attended the University of Maryland for a B.A. in Communication. She is actively involved the Las Vegas Diversity Network, the Women League of Voters, and Certified Emotional Intelligence Assessor. Pam is married and has two sons and miniature schnauzer. She enjoys traveling, technology, true journalism, cooking and camping with friends and family.
Nelandra Anselmo, MS, MFT, SPHR, SHRM-SCP, CHE (panel moderator)
With a passion for furthering knowledge about Diversity and Inclusion within local organizations, Nelandra speaks with work teams about enhancing relationships through Inclusion in the workplace in both private companies and the public sector.
Nelandra is a sought-after Human Resource Consultant and licensed mental health professional. With over 20 years in HR, she has served as a Director of Human Resources and worked in management roles in the areas of Employee Relations and organizational Learning and Development for top hospitality companies. A certified Senior Professional in Human Resources, Certified Hospitality Educator, and certified Job and Career Development Coach, Nelandra has developed programs for management and staff of various organizations and provides one-on-one executive coaching for leaders to effectively address personal and organizational needs.
As a practicing relationship therapist and coach, Nelandra’s background in counseling influences her approach, particularly in the areas of motivation, conflict resolution and developing relational and interpersonal skills. She has written and contributed to articles for popular publications on the topics of relationships and career transition, and presents seminars, speeches and workshops on mental health and organizational wellness. Nelandra received a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication Studies and Sociology, and a Master of Science in Counseling from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
REGGIE BURTON
Reggie Burton Communications LLC (RBC) is a Las Vegas-based boutique, public relations and social media marketing agency specializing in consumer, entertainment and corporate communications. RBC’s work is led by Reggie Burton himself, a 20-year public relations professional and former communications executive with gaming’s Mandalay Resort Group and MGM Resorts International, and the NFL’s San Diego Chargers. With the Chargers, Burton worked two Super Bowls (XIV and XXX).
As President of Reggie Burton Communications (RBC), he is dedicated to helping organizations and businesses enhance their brand image so they can generate future growth and profitability. He providesstrategic communications consulting for companies and organizations in order to assist with public awareness and marketing initiatives.
Additionally, RBC performs B2B and business to customer integrated social media marketing communications to achieve branding, revenue and customer optimizations goals. Burton has worked on Nevada political and advocacy campaigns, including successful lobbying efforts on behalf of online gaming, universal background checks for guns and recreational marijuana initiatives.
Prior to starting his own company, Burton served as Director of Communications for MGM MIRAGE, a publicly traded hotel and gaming company headquartered in Las Vegas. Burton directed the company’s strategic corporate communications, and was responsible for the management of numerous local and national media relationships, which positioned MGM MIRAGE as a leader among other Fortune 500 companies committed to corporate social responsibility and diversity. During his tenure, the Company generated Advertising Equivalency Value (AEV) annually in the tens of millions of dollars and received regional and national acclaim, including being named to the prestigious “Top 50 Companies for Diversity” by DiversityInc Magazine.
He began his career in the Hospitality Industry in 1999 as a Publicist for Circus Circus Hotel and Casino in Reno, NV. Later that year, he was promoted to Public Relations Manager for Circus Circus in Las Vegas. In August of 2002, he was promoted to Director of Community Affairs for parent company, Mandalay Resort Group. In 2005, following the merger between MGM MIRAGE and MRG, Burton was appointed Director of Communications for MGM MIRAGE, one of the world’s leading and respected hotel and gaming companies.
Burton attended San Jose State University, majoring in print journalism. Active in the community, he is Vice President of the Southern Nevada Public Television Board of Directors. Burton is a graduate of the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce Leadership Las Vegas program. He is also the recipient of several prestigious honors, including 2005 In Business Las Vegas “Top 40 under 40” and 2008 Who’s Who in Black Las Vegas.
Lisa Zweber-Smith
Lisa Zweber-Smith is an Organization Development expert who uses her systems thinking and knowledge of organizations to drive behavior change leading to increased engagement, customer satisfaction and profitability. She is passionate about driving productive change through the application of cutting edge approaches that produce lasting impact. After spending more than a decade working in a variety of multi-national organizations all over the world, Lisa launched her own consulting firm that she successfully ran for more than 10 years, consulting to a variety of Fortune 500 companies on building leadership capability and increasing organizational efficiency and effectiveness.
As co-author of the Implementation Effectiveness Handbook, Lisa shared her expertise on implementing large scale change projects and building change capability. Responsible for Diversity & Inclusion development at MGM Resorts International, she brings her extensive OD, change management and leadership development experience to the field of Diversity & Inclusion where she is focused on building an inclusive environment where leaders attract, select, develop, evaluate and retain diverse talent.
Lisa holds an MSOD from the Grazadio Business School at Pepperdine University, an MA in HRD/OD from the University of St. Thomas and a BS in Business Administration. She has taught Change Leadership in the Executive MBA program at Notre Dame, is an instructor at UNLV delivering a course on Diversity & Inclusion and currently serves as adjunct faculty for Pepperdine University, helping to prepare the OD consultants of the future.
