For Job Seekers

    For Job Seekers:

This section is for any community member looking for a job.  First, ensure that you have the proper training for the job you want.  If you need additional training, check out the occupation training providers list below.  If you are interested in training, but need funding, check out the financial resources for local, state, national and federal funding sources.

    Financial Resources

The agencies below may be able to help fund part or all of the training a community member desires, as long as the training is given by one of the above approved State of Nevada vendors.  Please call each agency you are interested in working with to set up an appointment to see if you qualify.  Most agencies are very busy and it will take at least 3-4 weeks to get an appointment.  Plan at least a few months in advance before the training program begins to ensure you have enough time to fill out the necessary paperwork and get funding for training.  Many agencies work together to fund each individual’s training program.  See specific agency below for further details.

    Internship Opportunities

Internships provide temporary, entry-level work experiences for job seekers in their chosen field of interest and offer valuable hands-on experiences, networking and mentoring connections. Typically internship opportunities are only for current students and tend to end once the student graduates.  Internships can be paid or unpaid, possibly taken for credit, and can be part-time or full-time.  In regards to whether an internship is paid or not, the U.S. Department of Labor has specific guidelines (http://www.dol.gov/whd/regs/compliance/whdfs71.pdf (PDF)). Internships can be found by looking directly at company websites, using job aggregators, or by approaching an employer directly.  Below are websites to help you locate internships.
