    This section provides planning and preparation resources for all youth in Nevada and lists employment-focused training services for disadvantaged youth and for youth who are not following an academic track.

    Nevada Career Information System
    Create Your Own Career Plan - take self-assessments to learn more about yourself, explore skills and economic information for specific jobs, and get financial planning info for career training in the Nevada Career Information System. It will store your career research and planning information online in your personalized portfolio. You may create your plan sequentially or click on any of the topic areas: Plan, Assessments, Occupations, Education, Employment.  To start, click the NCIS button and enter your town, zip code then click on Get Started.

    Training Providers

    These training providers offer programs for young people in a disadvantaged situation or who are not following a traditional high school academic path:

    Americorps - Service internship program which provide stipend and awards for college.

    Academy for Career Education - Construction and engineering training.

    Bootstraps - Youth in Nye and Esmeralda Counties work in an intensive program that combines classroom instruction, field work, family support and a mentoring component, working with the Battle Mountain Field Office of the BLM.

    Community Chest - Serving Storey and Lyon counties, as well as western Nevada

    Go To College Nevada - The earlier you start thinking about and preparing for college, the better. This site provides updated Nevada college information, resources, advice for parents and guardians, and the encouragement you need to stay on track.

    Redfield Academy - For Washoe County at-risk youth

    Rite of Passage - For at-risk youth

    Reno Rodeo Foundation - Offers scholarships to local youth

    Washoe Face Forward - Serves youth and young adults between 14-24 involved with the Juvenile Justice system.

    Washoe Youthbuild - Youth build homes for homeless while earning high school diplomas.

    Build Nevada - Learn about careers in the construction industry in Nevada.

    Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) - Resources for young people to help you find what job might be right for you, how to prepare for the job, average pay, number of jobs in the market, similar jobs you might be interested in, and where you can find more information.

    Goodwill Industries of Southern Nevada- serving youth with disabilites

    Help of Southern Nevada- serving out- of- schol youth who have dropped out of high school.

    Lincoln County Workforce- serving youth residing in Lincoln County.

    Nye Community Coalition-- serving youth reiding in Nye and Esmeralda counties.

    Olive Crest- serving foster and formal foster out-of- school youth.

    Southern Nevada Regional Housing Authority- serving out-of-school youth.

    St. Jude's Ranch- serving youth residing in Boulder City and Laughlin.
